Outlets disagree on the UK’s exact place: one lists it 6th and El Diario’s order puts it 7th, while 8th fits the reported three-place drop.
The rest of the 2025 top 20 included Japan, Poland, Argentina (13th), Colombia, Ukraine (16th), Australia, Egypt, Peru and Chile, according to Emisoras Unidas, the Buenos Aires Times and UNN. Pornhub doesn’t publish visit counts by country, only the order.
Traffic is concentrated. The top 20 countries generated 79.2% of Pornhub’s daily traffic in 2024, according to Man of Many.
Which Countries Send the Most Traffic to Porn Sites?
The US is the #1 traffic source for every major porn site. It sent 43.83% of Chaturbate’s visits, 37.14% of XNXX’s and 29.29% of XVideos’ in September 2026, according to Semrush estimates.
Brazil is a clear second on XVideos, at 15.83% of visits. South Asia shows up on xHamster, where India sent 7.25% of visits and Bangladesh 6.71%.

Trackers disagree on the details. Similarweb puts the US at 22.45% of Pornhub’s traffic and Japan second at 6.09%, according to Similarweb. Our ranking of the biggest porn sites by traffic compares Semrush and Similarweb site by site.
Which Country Watches the Most Porn Per Capita?
Among Pornhub’s 5 biggest traffic sources on Semrush, Spain had the most visits per resident: about 2.70 in September 2026, compared with 2.30 in Italy and 1.92 in the US (our calculation using World Bank population data).
Brazil, #2 by share of Pornhub visits, falls to last on this measure, at 1.03 visits per person. Adding XVideos, Spain (3.89) and the US (3.88) are roughly level.

Visits per resident is a rough proxy. It counts visits rather than people, and VPN users show up in the wrong country.
The idea that Iceland leads per capita traces back to Pornhub’s 2016 report. It ranked the US first for porn watched per capita, followed by Iceland, the UK, Canada and New Zealand, as reported by Inverse, without publishing the values.
Use among young Icelanders is high. 99% of men and 87.4% of women aged 18 to 30 have watched porn at least once, according to research reported by Reykjavík Grapevine (2016).
Claims that Pakistan watches the most porn rest on Google searches, not traffic. When The Express Tribune reported on Google Trends in January 2015, Papua New Guinea led porn-related searches and Pakistan ranked 6th.
Google Trends divides each place’s searches by its total searches and scales the result from 0 to 100, according to Google. So it shows how prominent a search is in a place, not how many people make it.
Which Country Spends the Longest Watching Porn?
Japan had the longest average Pornhub visit in 2025, at 11 minutes 2 seconds, compared with a global average of 9 minutes 33 seconds, according to Daily Hive.
That’s 89 seconds longer than the average visit (our calculation). The Philippines came close at 10 minutes 53 seconds, nearly 2 minutes longer than in 2024, per GMA News.

Women make up most of the audience in some of these countries. They were 64% of Philippine visitors in 2025, per GMA News, and 56% of Argentine visitors, against 38% worldwide, per the Buenos Aires Times.
Measured over a month, French adults who visited adult sites spent 1 hour 54 minutes on them in 2022, according to Arcom, France’s media regulator. UK men who visited porn sites averaged 1 hour 44 minutes in May 2024, per Ofcom data reported by Telecoms.com.
What Share of Adults Watch Porn in Each Country?
Measured browsing data puts monthly reach at roughly 3 to 4 in 10 online adults in France and the UK. 37% of French adult internet users visited adult sites each month in 2022 (Arcom), as did 29% of UK online adults, or 13.8 million people, in May 2024 (Ofcom).
Men watch more in every country in the table below. In the UK, 43% of online men visited a porn service in May 2024, compared with 16% of women, about 2.7 times as many.

Each study asks a different question, so these figures can’t be ranked against each other. Tracked data (UK, Germany, Poland) records actual site visits, while surveys rely on what people report.
In the US, 68.1% of adults aged 18 to 60 had ever intentionally looked at porn and 25.5% had done so in the past week, based on the 2014 Relationships in America survey of 15,738 adults (our calculation from Perry & Whitehead). The wider set of porn statistics by gender, age and frequency covers US viewing in more depth.
Problematic use varies more than use itself. In the International Sex Survey of 82,243 adults in 42 countries, 3.2% were at risk of problematic porn use, from 1.00% in Italy to 11.36% in Taiwan among larger samples (Algeria, 16.67%, and Iraq, 13.04%, were higher on small samples), according to Bőthe et al. (2024). Participants were online volunteers, not national samples.
Which US State Watches the Most Porn?
No single state leads on every measure, but Mississippi comes closest. It had the highest Google porn-search rate in a state-level study by Whitehead and Perry (Discover) and the longest average Pornhub visits in 2017, at 11 minutes 33 seconds (IFLScience).
That 2017 visit was 2 minutes 28 seconds longer than in Oregon, Idaho and Kansas, which tied for the shortest at 9 minutes 5 seconds (our calculation).
Utah, often called the top porn state, ranked 1st only on paid subscriptions from 2006 to 2008. It ranked in the bottom six on three other measures in a review by Gmeiner, Price & Worley (2015).

The subscription spread was small. Utah’s 5.47 subscriptions per 1,000 home broadband users was about 2.8 times Montana’s 1.92, and all but eleven states fell between 2 and 3, according to Edelman (2009), whose data came from a single adult-site seller.
Pornhub’s own state figures are older and change by year. In 2018, Mississippi again had the longest visits (11 minutes 23 seconds) and Kansas the shortest (about 9 minutes 21 seconds, our calculation), per the Riverfront Times. For 2023, Statista lists, among selected states, Maryland as longest at almost 11 minutes and Louisiana shortest at 8 minutes 21 seconds.
Religious states search more, but that doesn’t show their residents watch more. States with more religious and conservative residents searched more for sexual content in 2011–2012 Google data, a state-level correlation that doesn’t show who did the searching, according to a study by MacInnis and Hodson summarized by Discover.
Yet in a survey of 15,738 US adults, state conservatism didn’t predict how recently individuals had watched porn, and differences between states explained under 2% of the variation (Perry & Whitehead, 2020).
How Have Age-Verification Laws Changed Porn Traffic?
Pornhub cuts off access in 25 US states as of October 2026, according to Gizmodo, states home to 46.6% of Americans (U.S. Census Bureau, our calculation). The list of states with porn age-verification laws has grown to 27.
Cutting off a state moves viewing more than it stops it. After Pornhub shut off a state, time on Pornhub fell 54% but time on XVideos rose about 33%, and total time on the top 25 adult sites fell by about 10%, according to an NBER working paper by Brown, Davis and Pope tracking 554,866 machines.

VPN demand jumps when access ends. It spiked 1,987% in the UK when age checks began in July 2025 and 847% in Utah after Pornhub left in May 2023, according to Top10VPN.
The same shift shows up abroad. Pornhub’s visits from France fell 68.93% between September 2025 and September 2026, per Semrush, and from the UK 46.49%, per Semrush’s UK ranking.
Ofcom’s panel shows a smaller UK change: Pornhub reached 15% of online adults in August 2025, down from 18% in 2024 (Ofcom). Those falls line up with Pornhub’s changing country rankings since 2024.
India is an earlier example, and Pornhub partly blamed its drop on blocking. It ranked 3rd for Pornhub traffic in 2018, then fell to 15th in 2019 (Inc42) after the government ordered ISPs to block 827 porn sites in October 2018 (The Next Web).
Where Is Porn Banned?
About 43 countries ban porn, by our count from Comparitech’s censorship map: 31 in Asia, 11 in Africa and Belarus in Europe (Comparitech).
Bans take constant enforcement. Pakistan’s telecom regulator said it had cut off 988,768 porn links, 99% of the 998,334 it processed, according to Dawn.

Methodology
We reviewed 146 data points from 57 sources. Country rankings, visit lengths and gender shares come from Pornhub’s Year in Review (2015–2025), a company report relayed by news outlets; Pornhub publishes rank order but not visit counts by country.
Traffic shares are Semrush and Similarweb estimates for September 2026, modeled from clickstream panels rather than counted. Visits per resident are our calculations: each country’s share of a site’s Semrush visits, divided by the World Bank’s 2024 population. They count visits, not people.
Adult-use figures mix methods. Ofcom (UK), Arcom (France, Médiamétrie data), GESIS (Germany) and Lewczuk et al. (Poland, Gemius) use tracked browsing panels; Ifop, YouGov and the Dutch, Swedish, Australian, Icelandic and US studies are surveys with different questions and age ranges. The International Sex Survey used non-representative online samples.
State rankings come from Gmeiner, Price & Worley’s review of four sources, Edelman’s 2006–2008 subscription data from one seller, and Pornhub state figures relayed by press and Statista. Age-check effects come from an NBER working paper (not peer reviewed), a peer-reviewed Google Trends study, Top10VPN (a VPN review site) and an Aylo claim with no published method. Ratios, gaps, US shares from Perry & Whitehead’s response data, population shares and the 43-country total are our calculations.
